It is the largest organization of Government Higher Secondary School Teachers in the state of Kerala. On 1st August 1990, a new segment of teachers, the higher secondary teachers were generated. It was the first step of left Ministry‘s plan to separate Pre-degree from the University education and to start Senior Secondary course. The commission headed by Sri Romanas Ora IAS submitted the report with various sketches to launch the Higher Secondary Institutions in Kerala. It was a revolution in Kerala Education arena, when the Senior Secondary course in Government sector started. Afterwards senior secondary course has named higher secondary course. Passionately the Medias entitled this course as Plus Two. In the primary phase, 31 Plus Two schools were started in 31 education districts. Single batches of 60 students were admitted in each school. 15 schools with Humanities and 16 with Science group started under the supervision of DPI. Then DPI started assigning teachers according to seniority and suitability. On October 1990 the Senior Secondary Directorate was formed to organize the Plus Two level.
